TECHNOCELL® Sylphia
Visible fibres for a natural look
One plant, two lives. Silphie is a perennial crop grown in Germany and initially used for biogas production. Its fibres are then gently extracted using a biothermal process and turned into a new raw material for decorative paper. Its long flowering period also promotes biodiversity.
TECHNOCELL® Sylphia makes this origin visible. The Silphia fibres are deliberately left recognisable, giving every surface a natural, distinctive character. This is particularly well-suited to designs where authenticity is key, such as fantasy patterns and terrazzo finishes. Plain colours also benefit from this, as the fibre structure shapes the overall effect of the surface.
The ‘Arezzo’ terrazzo decor from Schattdecor, developed using TECHNOCELL® Sylphia, demonstrates how this looks in practice.
Natural texture, proven performance: production in Germany stands for reliable quality and security of supply. Compared with standard decorative paper, a CO₂ reduction of up to 20 per cent* is possible.
* The exact reduction depends on the product being compared. Calculation based on ISO 14067.
