Connext for Future Surfaces

Connext for Future Surfaces

From paper to a striking surface

The first thing people notice in a room is the effect of the surface. That is why we think in terms of surfaces rather than rolls: what a surface conveys begins with the decor paper.

Future Surfaces are surfaces that people want to live with, that the industry can produce reliably, and that the planet can afford.

Connext for Future Surfaces

The entire chain in the room

The surfaces of the future require the entire value chain, but not everyone in that chain is at the table.

Connext is the way we bring expertise together so that Future Surfaces can actually be created.

We invite collaboration, bridge the gap between disciplines and turn a one-off project into a repeatable way of working. Deliberate, replicable and delivering economic benefits for all involved.

Trend Report 2028+

What’s new and what’s staying the same?

The Trend Report 2028+ combines social and design trends with our broad market perspective: we identify early on what new demands are emerging and which designs are set to remain bestsellers. In this way, inspiration becomes the foundation for your next collection.

Orientation

What makes a surface a ‘Future Surface’

What is visually appealing is not always robust. What is sustainable does not always run smoothly through the system. A Future Surface resolves these conflicting objectives rather than merely postponing them:

  • It evokes emotion. A surface that elicits no response has little value.
  • It is durable. Technically, it withstands everyday use for many years; design-wise, it remains desirable even when short-lived trends have long since passed. Nothing is more circular than a surface that nobody wants to replace.
  • It uses sustainability as a design opportunity. A visible fibre or a recycled material given a second life becomes a selling point at the point of sale.
  • It is industrially scalable. Batch four hundred must look exactly like the first sample.
  • It is perfectly tailored to processing requirements and customer needs. What matters is not the price per tonne, but what the surface costs and delivers throughout the entire process.

Future Surfaces do not emerge on their own

Color, texture, paper, printing, engraving, printing plate, impregnation, plate: every decision either takes something away from the others or enables them to achieve something.

If they are made one after the other, the result is a compromise. If they are made in conjunction with one another, the result is a surface that would not otherwise exist.

That is why we work as specialists who develop together, rather than as suppliers who only see individual steps.

Which Future Surface do you want to make possible?

Ultimately, it’s not about paper, panels or sheet metal. It’s about the spaces where people live. Let’s work together to make them better.
